Work Placements

Definition

Work and community placements take various forms: the classic apprenticeship with an individual 'master' who has the skills to be acquired; attachment to a mentor; shadowing one or more individuals, or working in a relevant environment. The latter may involve the student in a particular role, undertaking a particular project, simply being in a particular environment observing and taking part in day-to-day activities on a work attachment, or an internship where the student is shown how the work or community environment operates.
