3-6 July, 2002
The University of Western Australia
Perth, Western Australia
Presentation Formats
The language for presentations at the conference will be English. When preparing your proposals and presentations please refer to the Guidelines for Preparing and Making Presentations to an International Audience that is available on the conference website.
Seminars are invited that present basic or applied research findings or which analyse theory and practice in educational development. Seminars may describe particularly significant or innovative practices, provide conceptual overviews or report evidence of the effectiveness of programs. Seminars that investigate challenges (and suggest solutions) faced by educational developers are welcome. Each presenter will have 30 minutes and the seminars must incorporate discussion as a critical element of the presentation. The conference organisers may also invite proposers of seminars that address a common theme to present as a symposium.
Workshops should include active learning and involvement of the participants. Workshops may demonstrate processes used in educational development programs or may be used to address and elaborate on some theory or practice in educational development. Workshops will be 90 or 120 minutes.
Symposia provide an opportunity for three or four participants to address a particular topic in a presentation and discussion format. A symposium might be used for the presentation and analysis of new findings or issues where multiple perspectives could be presented and accompanied by extensive discussion. Symposia will be 120 minutes. The discussion should be structured to assure involvement of the audience in the symposium.
Poster Exhibits are a way to visually share information including research findings and innovative programs. Posters should be self-explanatory but presenters must be present during the time allocated to Poster Exhibits and Materials & Resources Fair.
